Course Entry Criteria
Mandatory: Applicants must

  • be 18 years' or older at course commencement
  • have a current National Police Certificate (NPC)
  • have physical capabilities to perform the manual handling tasks required of persons working in the aged and community care sector.
  • obtain a volunteer Working With Children Check prior to undertaking their placement o provide evidence a current Influenza (Flu) vaccine, as well as Covid 19 vaccines and corresponding Covid 19 vaccine certificate, prior to undertaking their placement.
  • demonstrate the attainment of at least ACSF level 3 by successful completion of an Australian Year 11 certificate, or equivalent, or a qualification at AQF Level 3, or above; or
  • have attained a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 or PTE score of 50, or CAE score of 169, or hold a Certificate III in EAL, or equivalent.

Applicants may demonstrate LLND levels by undertaking Hampton College ACSF LLND assessments. Prospective students must consider any personal barriers, or potential challenges, prior to applying to enrol in this course.

Assessment Process at HAMPTON
Assessment at HAMPTON is a structured process used to collect evidence and evaluate whether you have achieved competency in your chosen units of study. This ensures that you can perform to the standards expected in the workplace, as outlined in your training package or VET-accredited course.

Your HAMPTON teacher will formally assess your skills, knowledge, and understanding. As assessments are competency-based, you will be required to demonstrate the required competencies for each unit of study.

To maintain the integrity of our assessments, HAMPTON ensures that all evaluations are valid, reliable, flexible, and fair. Our trainers conduct assessments according to the specific conditions outlined for each unit of competency.

Types of Assessment
Various assessment methods are used to allow learners to demonstrate competency in multiple ways. These assessments include:

  • Written Tasks – Case studies, question-and-answer tasks, written reports, assignments, reflective evaluations, self-assessments, project work, demonstrations, and class presentations.
  • Observation – Your teacher will assess your performance in real and simulated workplace environments. This may include role-plays, group discussions, and practical demonstrations. If you are on vocational placement, a qualified industry professional will also observe your performance.
  • Vocational Placement – This provides hands-on experience in a real workplace, allowing you to apply classroom knowledge in a structured environment. You will be mentored and supported by an industry professional while being observed on your ability to perform required tasks.

Assessments include a combination of activities, questioning, projects, and observations, ensuring a comprehensive evaluation of your competency. Some tasks may stand alone, while others integrate multiple assessment methods.

The Certificate III in Individual Support and Care (CHC33015) will prepare you to become qualified as an individual care worker and will provide you with the skills, knowledge and understanding required for this demanding but rewarding career. Career outcomes include:

You are required to complete a minimum of 120 hours of vocational placement as part of the CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing).

We will assist you in securing your placement at an Approved Care Service, where you will be mentored by a qualified and experienced Care Service Team Leader.

During your placement, you will apply the skills and knowledge gained throughout your course in a real-world aged care setting.

Formal Learning at Hampton College
At Hampton College, formal learning is delivered through a structured program of instruction, conducted face-to-face with your dedicated teacher on campus.

You will have the opportunity to engage with both your teacher and classmates, fostering a collaborative learning environment through a blend of classroom-based instruction and independent study or research.

Additional Learning Support:

  • Weekly Class Tutorial Support sessions with your teacher provide further guidance.
  • Face-to-face classroom delivery consists of 20 hours of scheduled contact per week.
  • 120-hour compulsory vocational placement, offering hands-on experience.

For students enrolled in Individual Care qualifications, this program includes real-world exposure through vocational placements, ensuring practical learning in a professional setting.
