USI: Simplifying Your Training Records

Keeping track of your training records has never been easier!

The Australian Government has introduced the Unique Student Identifier (USI) to help students easily access and manage their Vocational Education and Training (VET) achievements in one place.

From 1 January 2015, every student undertaking Nationally Recognised Training must have a USI.

What is a USI?

A USI is a unique combination of numbers and letters assigned to each student—similar to a Tax File Number but for education. It ensures that all training completed from 1 January 2015 onwards is securely recorded and accessible whenever needed.

  • One-time registration – stays with you for life
  • Free and easy to obtain
  • Access your training records anytime, anywhere

Tip: Be sure to obtain your USI before enrolling in any Nationally Recognised Training, as your Registered Training Organisation (RTO) will require it at the time of enrolment.
